Willowbrook Moonlight Walk

Local people are being encouraged to put their best feet forward by registering for the 2017 Moonlight Walk which takes place on Saturday 10 June. Every year hundreds of people take part in the event walking through the streets of St Helens and Knowsley with flashing pink bunny ears, cowboy hats, tutus etc…all to help raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice. Diane Humphreys, Senior Fundraiser at Willowbrook says: “The Moonlight Walk is a fantastic event for all the family! Ransomware Cyber Attack

This information has been sent on behalf of Action Fraud (National Fraud Intelligence Bureau). Following the ransomware cyber attack on Friday 12 May which affected the NHS and is believed to have affected other organisations globally, the City of London Police’s National Fraud Intelligence Bureau has issued an alert urging both individuals and businesses to follow protection advice immediately and in the coming days. Ransomware is a form of malicious software (Malware) that enables cyber criminals to remotely lock down files on your computer or mobile device. Criminals will use ransomware to extort money from you (a ransom), before they restore access to your files. There are many ways that ransomware can infect your device, whether it be a link to a malicious website in an unsolicited email, or through a security vulnerability in a piece of software you use....


Sounds Of Mind - Help Raise Funds For Mental Health Choir With Tesco Tokens

St Helens Mind is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative. Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local community projects. St Helens Mind has been shortlisted, along with two other groups, to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant. Footsteps 2000 Ltd - Counselling Provision and Supporting Grandparents Service

Footsteps 2000 Ltd is a charity based in the YMCA in St Helens that supports families affected by a loved one’s substance misuse. Recently Footsteps has received funding from the Tudor Trust to enable us to provide support for grandparents who are providing care formally or informally to grandchildren affected by parental substance misuse. It was recognised by the Tudor Trust that St Helens and Warrington, where Footsteps is also based, has a genuine need for a specialist service such as this. This funding will enable Footsteps to provide grandparents in this situation with information and support to help them increase in resilience and improve their safety and wellbeing, ultimately regaining control over their own lives and building on their strengths and coping skills whilst providing care to their grandchildren...
